Falling Under by Gwen Hayes is a wonderfully eerie, angst YA that puts a new spin on the grass is always greener. Theia Alderson’s sheltered life is shattered when she sees a burning man fall from the sky and the next day meets a new boy at school, one she’s already met in her dreams. The Haden she meets at night and the one she sees in reality are Jekyll and Hyde and she’s attracted to both sides. He’s attracted to her compassion and naiveté. She’s attracted to his mysteries. They take turn repelling and attracting each other. I love the role reversal in their dynamics as the story progresses.
It’s full on gothic romance, the urban fantasy, and coming of age story rolled into one.
